Abbreviating (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) to (S) or (SAW) or the like

Abbreviating (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) to (S) or (SAW) or the like !

Question: Is it permissible to write the letter (S) [Saad] instead of (writing) ((sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam)), and why?

Response: The Sunnah is to write the entire phrase ((sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam)) - since it is a supplication; And the supplication is a (form of) worship, such as verbally saying it (the phrase), and the abbreviation for it using the letter (S) [Saad] or (SAW) [Saad 'Ayn Waaw] (or (SAAW) or the like) is not (constitute) a supplication, and nor a (form of) worship, whether it be by speech or writing. And because of this, this abbreviation was not used by those of the first three generations about whom the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) bore witness to their excellence.

And with Allaah lies all success and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

When I say, "don't lie, don't steal, don't cheat, don't drink, don't party, don't have a boyfriend/ girlfriend," I'm not saying this because I want anything from you, or to judge you, I'm saying this only to warn you that if you do ANY of these, God will make you suffer...and after going through these punishments over and over and over again, I'm hoping that eventually you get the point and start heading in the right direction.

The most hated speech to Allah

The most hated speech to Allah

The most hated speech to Allah is when a man says to another man: 'Fear Allah!' and he replies: 'Worry about your own self!'

Surah Fatir 35:37

"Therein they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out (of the fire), we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do."

Salaat-ut-Taubah The Prayer of Repentance According to Quran and Sunnah

Salaat-ut-Taubah

The Prayer of Repentance
According to Quran and Sunnah

Because man is weak in resolve,

"...And Man was created weak." [Soorah an-Nisaa 4:28]
"Allaah wishes to make clear to you and to show the
ways of those before you and accept your repentance
and Allaah is All-Knower, All Wise." [soorah an-Nissa 4:26]

Abee Hamza Anas ibn Maalik al-Ansaaree
said that the Messenger of Allaah (Peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Allaah is more pleased with the repentance of His
servant than one of you who falls off his camel
and loses it in a baren desert land. [al-Bukharee vol8 #321]

Thus, there is no duty upon you - O servant of Allaah -
except that you should make Allaah happy
with your repentance and bring happiness
to your own soul by its repenting to its Lord
and by standing upright before its Originator.
The Conditions of Taubah are as Follows

1. Cessation of the sin.
2. Regret and remorse of the heart.
3. Firm resolve not to return to the sin.
4.

Returning the right of the oppressed, in that which is
particular to the rights of man.

How is Salaat-us-Taubah Performed?

Alee () who said that Aboo Bakr () told him
that he heard the Messenger of Allaah (Peace and blessings be upon him) say:
There is no servant who commits a sin and then he
purifies himself (wudoo') and then prays two rakaahs
and then seeks forgiveness of Allaah except that
Allaah forgives him.

Hadith - Bukhari 8.800B, Narrated Ikrima from Ibn Abbas

Allah's Apostle said, "When a slave (of Allah) commits illegal sexual intercourse, he is not a believer at the time of committing it; and if he steals, he is not a believer at the time of stealing; and if he drinks an alcoholic drink, when he is not a believer at the time of drinking it; and he is not a believer when he commits a murder." 'Ikrima said: I asked Ibn Abbas, "How is faith taken away from him?" He said, Like this," by clasping his hands and then separating them, and added, "But if he repents, faith returns to him like this," by clasping his hands again.

A named condition for the forgiveness of Allah (swt) is the returning to obedience in the matter...

The Noble Qur'an - Az-Zumar 39:54

And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islâmic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islâm), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped.

The Noble Qur'an - An-Nisa 4:17-18

Allâh accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they to whom Allâh will forgive and Allâh is Ever AllKnower, AllWise.

And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: "Now I repent;" nor of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful torment.

Allaah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant

Allaah is more pleased with the repentance of His
servant than one of you who falls off his camel

Corrupt Leaders According to Quran and Sunnah

Corrupt Leaders
According to Quran and Sunnah

About corruption and what to do about Muslim leaders whose
methodology or teaching is to commit the haram (prohibited)

The Prophet (sallallahu aleihi wa sallam) said:

"Allah does not punish the individuals for the sins of the community until they see the evil spreading among themselves, and while they have the power to stop it, do not do so." (Ahmad)

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said:

"This is why those who are in authority are of two groups: the scholars and the rulers. If they are upright, the people will be upright; if they are corrupt, the people will be corrupt."

The Noble Qur'an - Hud 11:85

"And O my people! Give full measure and weight in justice and reduce not the things that are due to the people, and do not commit mischief in the land, causing corruption.

The Noble Qur'an - Hud 11:113

And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allâh, nor you would then be helped

Do not split from the Jamaa'ah
as a result of a corrupt leader

Hadith - Al-Bukhari and Muslim, and other narration by at-Tirmidhee (no. 2867) and Ahmad (4/130).

Allaah’s Messenger (SAAWS) said, "He who sees from his ruler something he dislikes, let him be patient with him, for he who splits away from the Jamaa’ah by a handspan and then dies, dies a death of Jaahiliyyah" and in a narration, "then he has thrown off the yoke of Islaam from his neck."

Be Firm yet Just with a Corrupt Muslim

The Noble Qur'an - Al-Ma'idah 5:8

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allâh and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is WellAcquainted with what you do.

Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz, hafidahullah was asked, "Is it from the manhaj (methodology) of the Salaf to criticise the Rulers from the minbar (the pulpit)? And what is the manhaj of the Salaf with respect to advising the Rulers?" He responded:

It is not from the manhaj of the Salaf to publicise the faults of the Rulers and to mention such things from the pulpit because that leads to confusion/disorder and the absence of hearing and obeying the ruler in what is good. it also results in (the people) becoming engrossed (with these matters, arguing and debating) which causes harm and produces no benefit. The followed path with the Salaf, however is to give naseehah (advice) with respect to the matters which are between themselves and the leader, writing to him or by reaching him through the scholars who keep in touch with him (to advise him) until the ruler is directed towards the good. Repelling the evil occurs without mentioning the doer of the evil. So fornication, drinking of intoxicants and the taking of usury are curbed without mentioning the one who does such things. Warding off the evil and warning and the people against it is sufficient without it being mentioned that such and such a person does it, whether he is a ruler or other than the ruler.

And when the fitnah occurred in the time of 'Uthmaan , some of the people said to Usaamah ibn Zaid , "Will you not speak to "'Uthmaan?" So he replied, "You think that I will not talk to him without letting you know about it (also). Indeed, I will certainly talk to him regarding that which concerns me and him without initiating a matter which I do not love to be the first to initiate."

Hadith - Reported by Ahmad (3/403) and Ibn Abee 'Aasim (2/521) with a saheeh isnaad.

It is authentically reported from the Messenger in the hadeeth of 'Iyaad ibn Ghunum who said, "The Messenger of Allaah (saaws) said, 'Whoever desires to advise the one with authority then he should not do so openly, rather he should take him by the hand and take him into seclusion (and then advise him). And if he accepts (the advice) from him then (he has achieved his objective) and if not, then he has fulfilled that which was a duty upon him.' "

Sexual Corruption

The Noble Qur'an 24:30

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari Book 25, No. 5403

Some persons from Banu Hisham entered the house of Asma' daughter of Umays when AbuBakr also entered (and she was at that time his wife). He (AbuBakr) saw it and disapproved of it and he made a mention of that to Allah's Messenger saaws and said: I did not see but good only (in my wife).

Thereupon Allah's Messenger saaws said: Verily Allah has made her immune from all this. Then Allah's Messenger saaws stood on the pulpit and said: After this day no man should enter the house of another person in his absence, but only when he is accompanied by one person or two persons.

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi 3118, Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab , Tirmidhi transmitted it

The Prophet saaws said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman the Devil makes a third."

In order to Lead the People,
You Must Qualify to be a Wali

Hadith - Dawud 2078, Narrated 'Aisha r.a. [also related by Ahmad, Tirmidhi, and others. Tirmidhi said, this is a hasan Hadith]

"If they dispute, then the sultan (man in authority) is the wali of those who have no wali."

The Duty of the Muslim to Give Sincere Advice to the Corrupt Ruler

"The master of martyrs (sayyid al-shuhada) is Hamza, and a man who stands up to a tyrant ruler and gives him nasiha (advice). And so the ruler kills him"

The Prophet (SAW) continued to say : 'By Allah you have to enjoin good (Maroof) and forbid evil (Munkar), and hold against the hand of the unjust ruler (Zalim), and force him on the truth strongly, or you have to limit him to the truth'. By this evidence, which is the hadith commenting on the verse, Allah (SWT) has prohibited us from remaining silent against the evil (Munkar), and He commanded us to remove it. Allah (SWT) commanded the Muslims to enjoin Maroof and deny Munkar, and made it a duty upon them to do so. Allah (SWT) said; 'Let it be from among you a group who call to the good, enjoin Maroof and deny Munkar'. Allah (SWT) also said: 'You have been the best nation (Ummah) brought to the people, because you enjoin Maroof and deny Munkar'. [Musnad of Ahmad]

Saying of the Salaf

'Abdullah ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) used to say:

"Whoever aids an oppressor or taught him an argument to nullify the right of an ordinary Muslims, has drawn upon himself the anger of Allaah".

The Noble Qur'an 33:60-61

If the HYPOCRITES, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for ADULTERY, etc.), and those who spread FALSE NEWS among the people in AlMadinah, cease not, We shall certainly let you OVERPOWER them, then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbours but a little while. Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and killed with a (terrible) slaughter.

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi 3741, Narrated Abdullah ibn Abu Awfa

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Allah is with the qadi as long as he is not tyrannical, but when he is, He departs from him and the Devil attaches himself to him." [Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it.]

Fighting a corrupt muslim ruler

If an Imam (leader) or Amir (ruler) becomes corrupt he should first be given a call to Islam (submission) in private, or possibly in public if his evil deeds were done in public. If he does not turn away from his evil deeds, he should be overthrown or removed from position. However, in the process of removing him from position, he should not be physically fought, such as waging war with weapons. This is because the ruler is still muslim, and the muslims are not to attack or kill another muslim. If, however, the Muslim leader or ruler completely abandons his salat, he nullifies his Islam and can be fought if necessary. (However, to prove this, it would take an Islamic court or similar situation in which the person could defend themselves against all accusations).

Hadith - Sahih Muslim 4569, Narrated Umm Salamah, r.a.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: In the near future there will be Amirs (rulers) and you will like their good deeds and dislike their bad deeds. One who sees through their bad deeds (and tries to prevent their repetition by his hand or through his speech), is absolved from blame, but one who hates their bad deeds (in the heart of his heart, being unable to prevent their recurrence by his hand or his tongue), is (also) safe (so far as God"s wrath is concerned). But one who approves of their bad deeds and imitates them is spiritually ruined. People asked (the Prophet): Shouldn't we fight against them? He replied: No, as long as they say their prayers.

Hadith - Related by Ahmad, Dawud, at-Tirmidhi, anNasa'i and Ibn Majah
Buraidah reported that the Prophet Peace and Blessings be upon him said, "The pact between us and them is prayer. Whoever abandons it is a disbeliever."

Rulers will be held accountable to Allah

Hadith - Al-Bukhari 4.661, Narrated Abu Huraira, r.a.

The Prophet (saaws) said, "The Israelis used to be ruled and guided by prophets: Whenever a prophet died, another would take over his place. There will be no prophet after me, but there will be Caliphs who will increase in number." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What do you order us (to do)?" He said, "Obey the one who will be given the pledge of allegiance first. Fulfil their (i.e. the Caliphs) rights, for Allah will ask them about (any shortcoming) in ruling those Allah has put under their guardianship."

Hadith - Sahih Al-Bukhari 9:265

Allah's Messenger SAW said, "If any ruler having the authority to rule Muslim subjects dies while he is deceiving them, Allah will forbid Paradise for him."

The Noble Qur'an - 4:111

And whoever earns sin, he earns it only against himself. And Allah is Ever AllKnowing, AllWise

Sahih Muslim - Volume 9, Book 89, Number 264, Narrated Ma'qil

I heard the Prophet (saaws) saying, "Any man whom Allah has given the authority of ruling some people and he does not look after them in an honest manner, will never feel even the smell of Paradise."

The Noble Qur'an 4:79

Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself.

The Noble Qur'an 22:54

And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it (this Qur'an) is the truth from your Lord, and that they may believe therein, and their hearts may SUBMIT TO IT WITH HUMILITY. And verily, Allah is the Guide of those who believe, to the Straight Path.

creation five things

Hadith - Tirmidhi and Ahmad, Narrated Abud Darda'

Allah's Messenger said Salal Lahu Alehy Wasalam: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has ordained for every servant amongst His creation five things: his death, his action, his abode, the places of his moving about and his means of sustenance.

"There is none of you but has his place written for him in Paradise or in the Hell- Fire.

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 6:469, Narrated 'Ali

We were in the company of the Prophet Salal Lahu Alehy Wasalam in a funeral procession at Baqi Al-Gharqad. He said, "There is none of you but has his place written for him in Paradise or in the Hell- Fire." They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we depend (on this fact and give up work)?" He said, "Carry on doing (good deeds), for everybody will find it easy to do (what will lead him to his destined place)." Then he recited "As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah, and believes in the Best reward from Allah (i.e. Allah will compensate him for what he will spend in Allah's way). So, We will make smooth for him the path of ease. But he who is a greedy miser...for him, the path for evil." (92.5-10)

"Allah has appointed an angel in the womb,

Hadith - Bukhari, Narrated Anas bin Malik

The Prophet Salal Lahu Alehy Wasalam said, "Allah has appointed an angel in the womb, and the angel says, 'O Lord! A drop of discharge (i.e. of semen), O Lord! a clot, O Lord! a piece of flesh.' And then, if Allah wishes to complete the child's creation, the angel will say. 'O Lord! A male or a female? O Lord! wretched or blessed (in religion)? What will his livelihood be? What will his age be?' The angel writes all this while the child is in the womb of its mother."

Scientific Miracles of Quran! Why is Islamic Way of Slaughtering Brutal ?

Scientific Miracles of Quran!

Research: Islamic Slaughtering and Western method of Slaughtering

Let's begin with a small introduction with the term HALAAL

What is Halaal ( هلال )?

Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted. The opposite of halal is HARAAM (حرام ), which means unlawful or prohibited. Halal and haram are universal terms that apply to all facets of life. However, we will use these terms only in relation to food products, meat products, cosmetics, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, and food contact materials.

While many things are clearly halal or haram, there are some things which are not clear. Further information is needed to categorize them as halal or haram. Such items are often referred to as mashbooh, which means doubtful or questionable.

All foods are considered halal except the following (which are haram):
Swine/Pork and its by-products - Read more on WHY PORK IS PROHIBITED
Animals improperly slaughtered or dead before slaughtering
Alcoholic drinks and intoxicants
Carnivorous animals, birds of prey and certain other animals
Foods contaminated with any of the above products

Foods containing ingredients such as gelatin, enzymes, emulsifiers, and flavors are questionable (mashbooh), because the origin of these ingredients is not known.

Let's now move into the topic

The Islamic practice of slaughtering animals by means of a sharp cut to the front of the neck has frequently come under attack by some animal rights activists as being a form of animal cruelty, the claim being that it is a painful inhumane method of killing animals. In the West, it is required by law to stun the animals with a shot to the head before the slaughter, supposedly to render the animal unconscious and to prevent it from reviving before it is killed so as not to slow down the movement of the processing line. It is also used to prevent the animal from feeling pain before it dies.

German Research Studies Pain

It therefore may come as a surprise to those who have made such acclimations to learn of the results of a study carried out by Professor Wilhelm Schulze and his colleague Dr. Hazim at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Hannover University in Germany. The study: ‘Attempts to Objectify Pain and Consciousness in Conventional (captive bolt pistol stunning) and Ritual (halal, knife) Methods of Slaughtering Sheep and Calves’ concludes that Islamic slaughtering is the most humane method of slaughter and that captive bolt stunning, practiced in the West, causes severe pain to the animal.

In the study, several electrodes were surgically implanted at various points of the skull of all animals, touching the surface of the brain. The animals were allowed to recover for several weeks. Some animals were then slaughtered by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck cutting the jugular veins and the carotid arteries as well as the trachea and esophagus (Islamic method). Other animals were stunned using a Captive Bolt Pistol (CBP). During the experiment, an electroencephalograph (EEG) and an electrocardiogram (ECG) recorded the condition of the brain and the heart of all animals during the course of slaughter and stunning.

The results were as follows:

I – Islamic Method

1. The first three seconds from the time of Islamic slaughter as recorded on the EEG did not show any change from the graph before slaughter, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any pain during or immediately after the incision.

2. For the following 3 seconds, the EEG recorded a condition of deep sleep - unconsciousness. This is due to the large quantity of blood gushing out from the body.

3. After the above-mentioned 6 seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain at all.

4. As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (a reflex action of the spinal cord) driving a maximum amount of blood from the body thus resulting in hygienic meat for the consumer.

Sabar Patient

SubhanAllah there are sometimes in life people who we encouter who hurt our feelings by something they say or do and it sometimes causes us as individuals to be angry or hold contempt in our hearts towards them. May Allah Azza Wajal soften our hearts and forgive us and forgive them and have mercy on us all Ameen.

Narrated Umar (radi Allahu 'anhu): “Whoever does not show mercy will receive no mercy. Whoever does not forgive will not be forgiven. Whoever does not pardon will not be pardoned or protected.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, #371]

Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH): "Who is the most excellent among the Muslims?'' He said, "One from whose tongue and hands the other Muslims are safe.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness. [Bukhari]

Hate no one, no matter how much they've wronged you..Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become..Think positively, no matter how hard life is..Give much, even if you've been given little..Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you.. forgive those who has wronged you, And do not stop praying for the best for those whom you love.

Whoever loves to be saved from the Fire and entered into Paradise should die with belief in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people in the way that he wishes to be treated by them. [Muslim]

"If a friend among your friends errs, make seventy excuses for them. If your hearts are unable to do this, then know that the shortcoming is in your own selves" [Hamdun al-Qassar] “If you find see something you don’t like in a brother, try to find 1-70 excuses for him. And if you can’t find an excuse, say ‘There might be an excuse, but I don’t know it. [ Jafar as-Sadiq ]

Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Munazil (Allah have mercy upon him), of the early Muslims, said, “The believer seeks excuses for their brothers, while the hypocrite seeks out the faults of their brothers.” [Sulami, Adab al-Suhba]

"No mercy will be shown to those who show no mercy, and no forgiveness will be given to those who cannot forgive others." [Bukhari] "Whoever wishes to be delivered from the Fire (of Hell) and enter the Garden (of Paradise) should treat people as he wishes to be treated by them." [Muslim]

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If Allah allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Sometimes hardships are blessings..You dont see the blessings after when " Ease comes after Hardships" . These hardships are only the Keys to Jannah. Allah is with those who have Sabr. The Reward of Sabr is Jannah.

Haddith of The Day

The Prophet (sallAllâhu 'alaihi wa salam) said: "I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right, a house in the middle of Paradise for a man who avoids lying even if he were joking, and a house in the UPPER PART of PARADISE for a man who made his CHARACTER GOOD." [Dawud: Book 41 Hadith 4782]

Fasting on 9th Dhul Hijjah

Fasting on 9th Dhul Hijjah

Fasting on 9th Dhul Hijjah
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

Hunaydah ibn Khaalid reported from his wife that some of the wives of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “The Messenger of ALLAH (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) used to fast on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, on the day of Aashoorah, on three days of each month, and on the first two Mondays and Thursdays of each month.” [(Saheeh) by Shaikh al-Albanee in Saheeh Abi Dawood vol: 2, no: 462]

It is reported in Saheeh Muslim that when the Messenger of ALLAH (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) was asked about the fasting on the day of Arafat, he said: “It expiates the sins of the previous year and that of the following year.” [Saheeh Muslim] This fasting is Mustahabb only for the non-pilgrims and not for the Hajis (the pilgrims) because it was not the practice of ALLAH's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) to fast on the day of Arafat during pilgrimage and in a narration he also forbade doing so. Imaam at-Tirmidhee (rahimahullah) (d. 275H) said: “The People of Knowledge consider it recommended (Mustahabb) to fast on the day of Arafat, except for those at Arafat." [Jaami'ut-Tirmidhee (3/377)]

Arafat is a day of Forgiveness from sins, freedom from the Hell-Fire for the people who are present in the plain of Arafat. Aa'ishah (radhi allahu anha) narrated the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) saying: “There is no day on which ALLAH frees more people from the Fire than the day of Arafat. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels saying, 'What do these people (the Hajis) want?'” [Saheeh Muslim]

Standing in Prayer At Night !

Standing in Prayer At Night !

Standing in Prayer At Night !

When we lost the standing in prayer at night, our hearts became hard. Our tears dried up and our faith became weak.
(Read on pg 34, Aa’id Abdullah al Qarni, Thirty Lessons For Those Who Fast. Message of Islam. UK:1999.)

Three things make me laugh and three things make me cry.

Three things make me laugh and three things make me cry.

On the authority of Jafar bin Burqaan who said “I came to know that Salman al-Farsi used to say:

“Three things make me laugh and three things make me cry.

I laugh
at the one who is hopeful of the world yet death seeks him;
the one who is neglectful (of his Lord) while he is not neglected (by Him);
the one who laughs at the top of his voice, while he does not know whether he is pleasing his Lord or displeasing Him.

Three things make me cry:
parting from our beloved Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon hm) and his Companions;
the terror of the onset of the pangs of death and
the standing in front of the Lord of the Worlds while not knowing whether I will be turned towards the Fire or Paradise“.

[Salman Al Farsi]

Is it permissible for a woman to uncover her eyes unnecessarily?

Is it permissible for a woman to uncover her eyes unnecessarily?

Question:
My question has to do with niqab. I read on your website and many Islamic websites that the niqab is fard (obligatory) and women must wear niqab, but they can leave their eyes uncovered so that they can see where they are going.
What concerns me is: is it obligatory for us to cover our eyes if I am not walking and there is no need to see where I am going?.

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:

What the woman must do is cover her face because of a great deal of shar‘i evidence which indicates that it is obligatory for the woman to cover her face in front of non-mahram men. And she has two ways in which she can cover:

Either she may lower down on her face something that will cover it completely and not let anything of it show, and she can see through that cover

or she may wear the niqab (face veil) which is that which covers the face but leaves the eyes uncovered.

In Saheeh al-Bukhaari (1838) it says: “The woman in ihram should not wear niqab or gloves.” The fact that the woman in ihram is forbidden to wear niqab indicates that it is permissible to wear it when not in ihram.

Hence the fuqaha’ and scholars said that it is permissible for a woman to wear niqab, but that is on condition that she does not go to extremes in uncovering the eye socket or show too much of the cheeks.

Imam al-Ramli ash-Shaafa‘i (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

It is haraam to look at a woman in niqab of whom nothing can be seen except her eyes, especially if she is beautiful. How much fitnah may be caused by looking at a woman’s eyes. End quote from Nihaayat al-Muhtaaj, 6/188

It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah: With regard to the niqaab: Abu ‘Ubayd said, describing the niqab according to the Arabs: it is that from which the eye appears. It was known by other names, including “burqa‘”. As for the ruling on it, it is permissible.

The source for that is the hadeeth narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), according to which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The woman in ihram should not wear niqab or gloves.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari. The fact that he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade the woman in ihram to wear niqab indicates that it is permissible when not in ihram. End quote from Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah (vol. 1, 17/171).

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baz, Shaykh ‘Abd ar-Razaaq ‘Afeefi, Shaykh ‘Abdullah ibn Ghadyaan, Shaykh ‘Abdullah ibn Qa‘ood.

This has been stated previously in the following answers: 1496, 8540, 21134 and 100719

Secondly:

Once the above becomes clear, we will realise that there is nothing wrong with a woman wearing a niqaab from which only her eyes appear through a narrow opening which does not uncover anything more than what is needed in order to see. The ruling that this is permissible is not dependent upon there being any need; rather it is generally applicable and it is permissible for her to wear the niqab whether the woman needs to see where she is going or not, and whether she is sitting in a car or walking down the street. The evidence quoted above which indicates that it is permissible to wear the niqab was narrated in a hadeeth of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the tafseer of Ibn ‘Abbaas is general in application and is not restricted to cases of necessity.

And Allah knows best.

Advise To My Muslim Sisters

In this Western world and environment that we live in, we sadly see that Muslim females (teenagers) are the target of the Kufaar. Their aim is to cause Muslim females to lose their respect and integrity, taking them away from a pious and truly fruitful Islamic life. Many Muslims females throughout the world today are caught in the trap of drugs, alcohol, club going, adultery and various other detrimental activities.
My respected Muslim Sisters! Look at what you are doing and see for yourself whether you are causing benefit or harm to your selves?
Think of what you are doing and, then Remember! That Almighty Allah is watching your every action. My dear Muslims sisters! Dress Islamically, Do not try to copy the West. Do not strive to look and dress like the Kufaar. After you leave this world, you being a duplicate of any film or pop-star will not be of any assistance to you in your grave or in the hereafter. Forget and divorce yourself from the traps of the West. Instill in yourself true...
